Lara Noel is a holistic practitioner integrating somatic, energetic, nutritional, mindfulness and movement practices in her approach to health and healing. She has been studying and practicing alternative healing modalities since 2000, including Nutritional and Herbal studies, Craniosacral Therapy, Energy work, Internal Family Systems, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Ancestral Healing, and TRE (Trauma Releasing Exercises).
Her practice helps clients build resource, compassionate and curious inquiry, and embodiment, by guiding them back to the body with presence and awareness of the senses. She emphasizes the importance of creating a safe, nonjudgemental space that facilitates healing and develops trust between client and practitioner.
She specializes in nervous system regulation, chronic health issues, and building healthy relationships, with the understanding that when we become truly embodied and connected to our Self, our ability to set healthy boundaries, make healthy choices, and live in our joy, becomes more natural and effortless.
For the last 20 years I've studied, experienced, and practiced many forms of healing modalities and systems. My love for health and healing has come about through my own lessons with physical limitations and emotional challenges. In my teens I developed chronic back issues and struggled with fatigue and depression. Throughout most of my adult life I have experienced chronic health issues, continued fatigue, food allergies, environmental sensitivities, and anxiety.
My curiosity for esoteric studies and healing came about in high school when I began reading books on Buddhist philosophy, breathwork practices of Stanislav Grof, hands-on-healing tools of Barbara Brennan, and Shamanic practices. I completed college with a BA in Anthropology, with my thesis focused on nature and consciousness studies within Buddhist and Native American practices and philosophies.
In my early 20’s I began studying Yoga, nutrition, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory and Native American practices. I did a 3 day Vision Quest with 6 months preparation, completed a 600 hr training to become a Certified Nutrition Consultant and a 300 hr training in Eastern and Western herbal studies based in TCM theory. I began working for company that made supplements and herbal tinctures for children on the autistic spectrum where I learned about the importance of detoxification and nutritional and herbal support to help a variety of physical, mental and emotional challenges.
In my 30's I began learning about how stress and trauma create holding patterns in the body, both physically and energetically. I discovered the importance of slowly accessing and releasing these patterns through gentle presence, compassionate inquiry, and slow physical release.
I also began studying more deeply energy work and guided journeys, along with the gentle modalities of Craniosacral Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Ancestral Healing, Mantra practices, Meditation, Jade Egg and Tantra practices, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and most recently Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE).
TRE helped me release anxiety and nervous system overwhelm more deeply and more quickly than any other modality I had done. After years of feeling scattered and unfocused, I finally began to feel more coherent, confident, and level in my emotions.
During the years I have also developed a love for astrology as a means for understanding one’s life path, karmic patterns, and different archetypes and gifts we hold within ourself, not as a definitive or rigid truth, but as playful combination of possibilities. I mainly studied Evolutionary Astrology and felt connected to the concept that through planetary placements, we are connected to the cosmos and something larger than ourselves. I wrote a blog fro 3 years, interpreting current astrological placements, or transits, and counseled many clients through tough life transitions.
I am also a lover of dance. I practiced ballet for ten years from the time I was 3. My mother saw my passion for it at a very young age and I'm very grateful she followed her impulse. I stopped dancing for many years, and reconnected with it as an adult. The last 10 years I've studied Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Haitian, Samba, and my most current passion, Salsa and Zouk. I'm also studying Taiji and Qigong, and beginning to incorporate the eastern movement practices into my professional practice. Movement and dance has been my biggest source of joy over the years!
Through my experiences, I have discovered that an integrated approach of both emotional support and guidance, mindfulness and energetic practices, somatic release through the body, nutritional and dietary support, and focusing on finding joy in one's life, are all necessary to create healing and lasting change.
My passion lies with helping others regain health and find freedom in their life and in their bodies by offering the tools and experience I have, and creating a compassionate and safe space to heal. My current focus is on incorporating T.R.E with compassionate inquiry and embodiment practices including Craniosacral Therapy, which help merge gentle physical resolution with mindful and body centered awareness of our thoughts and unconscious patterns.
My mantra is “Start where you’re at.” With the many limitations and setbacks I’ve had over the years due to my health challenges, I’ve had to hold the duality of deep surrender and patience to the unfolding of life, along with the determination and dedication to getting better. I’ve gravitated to the Taoist concept of Wu Wei, literally meaning “without exertion” or “non doing” as a reminder to align myself with the present and be in acceptance of the natural and effortless ebb and flow of existence.
